MEET CHRISTY
I'm a work in process. Deeply flawed. Deeply human. Always becoming BETTER.
The little girl in the photo
A while back I came across a photo of myself as a little girl, probably around four or five years old. She is smiling as she walks toward the camera, and appears, by her expression, to be a happy child.
When I first saw it, I was flooded with emotion. First, a poignancy about that little girl who looked so happy. Then sadness, because I knew she had so much judgment coming her way. And finally, anger, because that little girl grew up into someone who struggled, throughout adolescence and well into adulthood, with perfection.
What a waste of my one wild and precious life.
For most of my life, I had a constant companion. An insidious voice in my head that reminded me, no matter what I had accomplished, that I was not perfect.
You're not perfect. You're not perfect.
Then one day, after years of introspection and discovery, I had an epiphany. I gave up on perfection. And I realized that while I would never be perfect, what I could be was better.
She was good just exactly as she was.
And so, I'd be willing to bet, are you.
“Leadership isn’t
about being perfect.
It’s about being BETTER.”
Christy Pretzinger
What I do.
I am the founder and CEO of WG Content, the first company built entirely around healthcare writing. I grew it from a modest freelance business into a nationally recognized consultancy, built on four core values: empowered, curious, kind, and fun. It is the work I am most proud of.
I am also the founder of The BETTER Leader Project, a movement to build BETTER leaders, for BETTER teams, for a BETTER world.
In between, I wrote a book called Your Cultural Balance Sheet, I speak on stages, I host conversations on the podcast, and I keep learning. Always.
A coach told me something once.
“Your business is you, and you are your business. It won't grow until you do."
Those words sent me down a path of continual learning. As I like to say, you can't get it wrong, and you'll never get it done.
The other stuff
I am a longtime member of Entrepreneurs' Organization, a global nonprofit of business leaders from 65 countries.
I am a strong believer in life-work balance. I enjoy traveling to faraway places, working on my golf game, and staying fit by working out and hiking. I dabble in calligraphy, drawing, and attempting to learn new languages.
My partner Pete and I have three adult children between us. We frequently wonder what possessed us to own three dogs, who are always underfoot.
